The new Skilled Trades Bursary Program provides a $1,000 bursary to individual students who wish to pursue a post-secondary skilled trades pathway. Eligible candidates are selected based on the following criteria:
• The candidate is enrolled at one of our NNDSB secondary schools and in grade 11 or 12
• The candidate is facing financial and/or other barriers to completing their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
• The candidate is enrolled in a cooperative education program and has earned, or is earning, 2 credits working in a skilled trade placement
• The candidate has post-secondary plans to pursue a career in the skilled trades, and
• The candidate demonstrated leadership in the skilled trade: i.e., mentorship, participating in a conference or sharing experiences to the broader student population
Please note that students who have already received their OSSD and returned to secondary school for additional credits ARE NOT ELIGIBLE for the Skilled Trades Bursary.
